Electric Vehicle Model Compatibility

All Type 2 electric vehicles will work with the Zappi as it comes standard with a Type 2 cable or socket. Check to see if your electric Vehicle is compatible with the Zappi here.

If your electric vehicle has a Type 1 connection then Myenergi can make you a custom Type 1 charger. Please reach out to us if you require this solution.

Zappi Key Features

Smart EV Charger

Charge your EV with your excess Solar

Zappi is a smart EV charger with a difference. The Zappi can charge your EV using excess solar generated by your solar system. Taking advantage of the three different charging modes you have the option to charge your car using excess solar only or choose to charge your EV using grid & solar power combined!

All of this can be managed via the Zappi Screen or the Smartphone App (see below for images of the Smartphone App).

Three Electric Car Charging Modes

ECO

Charge power is continuously adjusted in response to changes in generation or power consumption elsewhere in the home. Charging will continue until the vehicle is fully charged, even if power is drawn from the grid.

ECO+

Charge power is continuously adjusted in response to changes in generation or power consumption elsewhere in the home. Charging will pause if there is too much imported power, continuing only when there is surplus free power available.

FAST

In this mode, the vehicle will be charged at maximum power. This is just like an ordinary Mode 3 charging point.

Managing your Zappi EV Charger using the

MyEnergi Smartphone App

The MyEnergi Smartphone App enables you to schedule charging, view your charging statistics, change charging modes and view your entire eco-system of connected devices.

If you want to see your solar generation or battery storage within the Myenergi App (see pictures below) then you will require additional CT Clamps and potentially a Harvi Unit. See CT & Harvi Requirements (above) for more information.

The main benefit of connecting all of your devices is so you can see exactly how much energy you are using and then order the priority of energy supply within the app. i.e. if you want your battery to be filled before your EV starts charging, then you can set this up within the app. See the below example images from the Myenergi App.

FAQs

What is the difference between untethered and tethered EV chargers?

A tethered charger comes with a charging cable physically attached to the charger.

An untethered charger does not come with a charging cable. You will need to purchase a separate charging cable if you purchase an untethered unit.

If I have a single phase grid connection, what power EV charger can I install?

For Single Phase, our recommendation is a 7kW Single Phase charger. The 22kW Chargers are three phase, you can install them and connect them on single phase, however, the maximum power will still only be 7kW.

If I have a three phase grid connection, what power EV charger can I install?

On a three phase grid connection you can install either a 7kW (Single Phase) or 22kW (Three Phase) charger. The benefits of the three phase charger is you can charge at a faster rate (not all cars can, so important to check how fast your car can charge on an AC connection).

What is the benefit of buying an untethered EV charger?

The main benefit of an untethered charger is that you can take the separate cable with you if you go on a road trip. For a tethered charger you cannot detach the cable from the physical unit.

Does Solar Matching work with my EV Charger even if I don't buy the extra CTs?

Yes, all features of the Zappi will still work. The additional CT Clamps are used to record the data and show the solar generation within the Myenergi App. If you do not purchase the additional CT clamps then the solar generation statistics will not display in the Myenergi App.
