CT & Harvi Requirements
Here are the CT & Harvi requirements for Zappi Installation to measure power supply, Solar and Battery.
The new multi-phase Zappi V2.1 comes with 3 x CT clamps inside the box.
If you are wiring this charger as a 7kW single phase unit you will only require 1 x CT clamp for the grid. Therefore, you will have 2 x CT clamps spare that you can use for your solar system or battery if you have either of these (see table below for examples).
If you are wiring this charger as a 22kW three phase unit then you will require all 3 of the CT clamps that come included in the box for the grid. If you also want to see your solar or battery then additional CT clamps and a Harvi unit will be required (see table below for examples).
If you have any questions please contact us.
Single Phase Power with 7kW Zappi Hardware Guidelines
Solar | Battery | Harvi | Multi-Phase CTs Used |
---|---|---|---|
No | No | 0 | 0 |
Yes | No | 0 | 1 |
Yes | AC | 0 | 2 |
Yes | DC | 0 | 1 |
For the above examples you will not require any additional CT clamps or Harvi units as the Multiphase Zappi includes 3 x CT clamps in the box.
Three Phase Power with 22kW Zappi Hardware Guidelines
Solar | Battery | Harvi | Additional CTs Required |
---|---|---|---|
3 Phase | No | 1 | 3 |
3 Phase | AC | 2 | 4 |
3 Phase | DC | 1 | 3 |
1 Phase | No | 1 | 1 |
1 Phase | AC | 1 | 2 |
1 Phase | DC | 1 | 1 |
In every example above you will require additional CT clamps and/or a Harvi unit.

Zappi Key Features
Charge your EV with your excess Solar
Zappi is a smart EV charger with a difference. The Zappi can charge your EV using excess solar generated by your solar system. Taking advantage of the three different charging modes you have the option to charge your car using excess solar only or choose to charge your EV using grid & solar power combined!
All of this can be managed via the Zappi Screen or the Smartphone App (see below for images of the Smartphone App).
Three Electric Car Charging Modes
ECO
Charge power is continuously adjusted in response to changes in generation or power consumption elsewhere in the home. Charging will continue until the vehicle is fully charged, even if power is drawn from the grid.
ECO+
Charge power is continuously adjusted in response to changes in generation or power consumption elsewhere in the home. Charging will pause if there is too much imported power, continuing only when there is surplus free power available.
FAST
In this mode, the vehicle will be charged at maximum power. This is just like an ordinary Mode 3 charging point.
MyEnergi Smartphone App
The MyEnergi Smartphone App enables you to schedule charging, view your charging statistics, change charging modes and view your entire eco-system of connected devices.
If you want to see your solar generation or battery storage within the Myenergi App (see pictures below) then you will require additional CT Clamps and potentially a Harvi Unit. See CT & Harvi Requirements (above) for more information.
The main benefit of connecting all of your devices is so you can see exactly how much energy you are using and then order the priority of energy supply within the app. i.e. if you want your battery to be filled before your EV starts charging, then you can set this up within the app. See the below example images from the Myenergi App.

FAQs
What is the difference between untethered and tethered EV chargers?
A tethered charger comes with a charging cable physically attached to the charger.
An untethered charger does not come with a charging cable. You will need to purchase a separate charging cable if you purchase an untethered unit.
What is a multi-phase Zappi EV charger?
A multiphase EV charger means that you can install the same EV charger for either single or three phase. If you have a single phase home, then the Zappi can be installed as a 7kW single phase charger. If you have three phase, then the Zappi can be installed as a 22kW three phase charger.
Do I need to buy extra CT Clamps or a Harvi unit?
The short answer is no. However, it depends on what data you want to see in the Myenergi smartphone app. If you choose not to purchase the additional equipment then the Zappi will operate as normal and will still do solar matching. If you want to see the excess solar generation in the myenergi app or control a battery, then you will require additional CT clamps and/or a Harvi unit. Please see the CT & Harvi requirements guide above to help you make your decision.
Does Solar Matching work with my EV Charger even if I don't buy the extra CTs?
Yes, all features of the Zappi will still work. The additional CT Clamps are used to record the data and show the solar generation within the Myenergi App. If you do not purchase the additional CT clamps then the solar generation statistics will not display in the Myenergi App.
What is the benefit of buying an untethered EV charger?
The main benefit of an untethered charger is that you can take the separate cable with you if you go on a road trip. For a tethered charger you cannot detach the cable from the physical unit.
